Right now I'm working on a website for a homeschool mom's home-business. Although this is not the first site I have ever coded, it is the first site I have ever published.

I began by designing it in the free photoshop program Gimp 2.0, and then wrote the HTML code for it from scratch in SciTE 1.62-wbd-1. Styling was done via a CSS stylesheet, which was edited in TopStyle lite 3.10 (if you go to the Topystyle site, you'll have to scroll down to see the link for the free "lite" version).
Because of the layers feature of Gimp, when I was going over the first design draft in gimp with the mom, I was able to immediately make color, postitioning, and font changes to her liking until we had a design she was satisfied with. Later I did have one more design idea which included taking away a distracting background, but there was really no more loss of time than normal because of that.
